After suffering from and overcoming various mental health struggles, Tyler felt that many young men are not willing to acknowledge their emotions Whether it be a fear of acceptance, prior stereotypes or never having been taught the proper coping mechanisms, this paper delves into not only how online media affects men's mental health but additionally looks into various options men can be supported in the journey of self-help and improving their emotional well-being.

In 2019, Tyler shared his first story with The Hidden Opponent, a non-profit mental health advocacy group for college athletes. Upon the positive reception from those online, Tyler founded the Ursinus College Hidden Opponent chapter.  In 2023, he shared an updated story on his mental health journey after finishing his collegiate soccer career. Since sharing his original story on the THO Blog, Tyler has had the opportunity to connect with several student athletes and non profit organizations across the country, all with the goal of being a stark advocate for normalizing the mental health conversations and breaking down stigmas that serve as a barrier towards men acknowledging their mental health.
